| **BEESWAX
SUBMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. Please note that the current
reading period is for Issue 7, due out in early 2011.**
Beeswax Magazine
publishes fiction, poetry, nonfiction and visual art, but
we are open to cross-genre and/or unclassifiable work, too.
Novel excerpts are fine as long as they can stand alone as
complete pieces. Please read all policies and guidelines
before sending us your work.
READING
PERIOD
We are currently reading for Issue 7, which will be published
in 2011. We do not yet have a firm date for open submissions
for Issue 8, but when we do it will be posted on this page.
Note that submissions received outside of any announced reading
period will be returned unread.
POLICIES
• We do
not accept simultaneous submissions. That said, we
do try very hard to respond to your submission in a timely
manner. Submissions that are noted as simultaneous will be
returned unread.
• While
sending several poems or shorter prose pieces in a single
submission is encouraged, we do not accept multiple
submissions at the same time; please wait for our
response before sending a new submission.
• Please
allow up to four months for us to respond to your submission.
Generally, we will do our best to respond as soon as we can,
but sometimes it might take up to four months. If it has been
longer than 16 weeks, feel free to send us an email requesting
a submission status.
GUIDELINES
• Fiction and prose entries must be typed and double-spaced;
please do not exceed 25 pages (approx. 7000 words) for fiction
submissions. Poetry entries must be typed; please
do not exceed 10 pages for poetry submissions.
• Visual
artists -- be advised that Beeswax rarely publishes in color;
our preferred medium is black and white/grayscale. We love
all kinds of art, from photography to comic books and beyond,
so if you have something visual, send it our way. We also
love work that combines text and art, and we are absolutely
all-for artist collaboration; we would be happy to consider
your collaborative work. Please send pdfs or low res
files; if we are interested in high res versions of your files,
we will contact you.
• Include
a cover letter that gives us a brief idea of who you are
and what kind of work you do/have done. Please include your
phone number, email and mailing address in your cover letter.
• Beeswax
does not currently offer payment for publication. However,
writers and artists published in Beeswax will receive two
complimentary copies of the issue in which they appear.
There are
two options for submitting to Beeswax:
